The Johann Strauss Foundation mourns the loss of Heather MacLean who made her mark as a 2 time scholarship recipient in the 1980s.

After many years living and teaching in South Africa — she returned back to Canada and settled again in Edmonton, always stating that Edmonton is the best city in the world. During her time in South Affrica, she developed the widely used program to teach young children about music while in elementary schools.

Heather joined the Board of the Johann Strauss Foundation in 2010 as a director and has dedicated time and experience to the Foundation. I’ll miss her sound reasoning and help with the Annual Johann Strauss Ball.

An incredible teacher for many voice students and good friend with lots of enthusiasm she will be missed.
